The Power of Influence

The power of influence is vital for all aspect of life. To create a buy-in, there must be value that you are bringing to the table.
For example, the value of using grab app to get transport has changed the whole taxi/transport industry in Singapore. Another example is the S hook lady who has brought entertainment value in the products that she is selling.
The power of influence can also be brought to us by communication.
Here’s a video that I would like to share with all of you. It shows how Jack Ma used his words to influence.
From this video, I would like to especially share about rule 1, rule 3, rule 7 and rule 8 which can be applied to our daily work and our personal lives.
Learning Points
Rule 1 - Learn from the mistakes of others. This is indeed true for me as I am a learner. I will not only learn from others but also learn from my own mistakes. Let’s continue to keep learning!
Rule 3 - Be the first to try new things and do not give up cos you are unique in your own ways!
Rule 7 - Believe! Believe in what you do!
Rule 8 - Surround yourself with positive people, not negative ones. Show respect, trust, appreciation and do not spend time complaining.
I realized the importance of influence using words. Words which are used well at the right time will impact on the listeners. This applies to our everyday life and I reflected on how I might have used some words carelessly and conveyed the wrong intention. I am really glad to be able to hone this skill not just for my profession but also for my life - it is never too late to learn such important skills!
Having said that, there is no point of influencing anyone if I do not value-add to anyone. For example, I am happy to share about the ways in educating our children, being an experienced educator and a mother of 3 grown-ups. Likewise, I will share about cash flow and financial planning to value-add to people I care about and people who care. :)
