Save and not Waste?

I do what I preach. I have been spending time and money doing my own health screening these two months. Is health checkup a waste of money? Should I save up the money thinking that I am healthy? Let's not take good health for granted. I started to have health issues after age 40. Lucky for me, they are all minor inconveniences. For many of us, doing daily exercises can be an uphill task with the amount of work and family commitment. And that is when health can turn against us when we least expect it.

Do love ourselves and start taking care of ourselves! Let's get ourselves screened and protected to prevent future "waste" of more money and time. Just like a car that needs yearly checkup and maintenance, we too need to ensure that we maintain our physical bodies well!

Cancer is curable when detected early. I've been talking to several cancer survivors and I really admired their grit and their strong will to live. One friend I know has two cancers, one after another. She is still standing strong, contributing her time to the less fortunate. Kudos to her - living her life to the fullest!

Cancer is the leading cause of death in Singapore, accounting for 29.6% of the total number of deaths in 2016. There is no data at hand to show how many people have cancer and have recovered. It has happened to several people I know. Cancer can happen to anyone at any age! Allow me to repeat this again - let's not take good health for granted. I teared when I watched this web series, presented by Singapore Cancer Society, and supported by Parkway Cancer Centre.

There are a number of subsidies available for screening. Do find out more from Health Hub Screen for Life - https://www.healthhub.sg/programmes/61/Screen_for_Life

There are also fully sponsored cancer screening services which include Pap smear test, mammogram screening and the Faecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) kit for eligible participants - https://www.singaporecancersociety.org.sg/get-screened/fit-50.html

Stay safe, stay healthy!
