Meaning of Life

During my university days in Melbourne, I took a module. Can't really remember what is the title of the module now but I remembered one of our assignments was - "What is the meaning of Life".

I'm blessed with having children at a young age, as now I'm enjoying the fruits of my labour whereby my children are now independent enough to strive for their own aspiration and happiness.

After attending the module on wealth planning, the phrase "meaning of life" comes into my mind again. What is the meaning of life? The phrase does not seem far away in view of the current pandemic whereby a life can suddenly be gone. Why did I say that? Currently in a country with almost 100 million people (as compared to only about 6 million in Singapore), whereby most of the people here are not vaccinated against Covid virus, you know to live and die is real.

Several people here are leaving now to go back to their home country. It is simply too tough to stay in a foreign country when job/business opportunities are vastly impacted. I chose to stay behind to make a difference in this foreign country. However, legacy planning has become utmost importance not just for others but also for myself.

Who and what are we leaving behind? We all have assets that we can leave behind, be it tangible or intangible. Have you planned for your love ones? How can we continue our lifestyle regardless of the events that may happen? If we fail to plan, we plan to fail.

If you care for your family, do spend some time thinking on how you can leave your legacy behind. Other than your wealth that you have accumulated that you hope it can provide sustainable livelihood for your loves ones, it maybe more important to let them know your thoughts, your ideas and your wish about life. For myself, I hope my love ones can remember me as someone who is not afraid to go for her dreams, and not to be afraid to try regardless of age - #livelife with no regrets! How do you want your love ones to remember you? Do write it down, take video and tell them. Make sure you distribute what you are leaving behind fairly, so that you can really "rest in peace". If you are not sure how to do so, please reach out to me so that I can share my humble experience!

What is "Meaning of life" then? To me, is to live every day meaningfully and contributing to the better good. Despite being alone in this foreign country, I feel much loved with the support given by my love ones. Do not let your daily routine eat away your time and not think about this meaning of life.

What is the meaning of your life? How do you want to be remembered as?

To conclude, we need to think of our legacy as the positive thoughts and experiences we leave behind. (https://www.evantarver.com/life-legacy/)

How do you want people to think of you? What impact do you want to make? This is the most important part of your legacy. It has nothing to do with your lifetime earnings or your 10% pay raise
