Who am I? Where do I come from? Where am I heading to? This may sound philosophical but I bet most of us have ponder these questions before at any point in time in our life journey.
How does this relate to Bazi? Traditional Bazi does provide us a clue to all these questions. However, it is not cast in stone which we can't change. Life throws us a box of worms (fate) but we can convert the box of worms to curable chinese medicine (destiny)! We may not able to choose our fate (i.e. born poor) but we can definitely be our master of own destiny (i.e. rags to riches).
Let's get back to the first question "Who am I"? This is an identity question and we are looking at the Day Stem (a.k.a. Day Master) to answer this question (highlighted in yellow box in the screenshot below). You may want to refer to the previous post if you want to learn how to plot the bazi chart below based on your DOB.

There are total 10 type of stems and let's go through the first day stem Yang Wood.
Imagine Yang Wood as a huge tall tree. It represents growth, branches out and steady. If you are Yang Wood and at personal level, you learn continuously and diversifying your skills and domain knowledge, I bet you will feel good of yourself. Whenever you are in downward spiral, do things that are related to growth, steady and branching out and you will feel better. If you are lost and unsure what you want to do in life, again, do something that is related to these characteristics and you will find your life purpose.
You may now want to ask if there is any negative characteristic? The answer is yes. Remember, in chinese metaphysic, when there is a yang, there will be yin. Then, the next question is do we want to know the negative characteristic? I think we don't need to focus on the negative characteristic. Based on my positive driven method, focusing on only three (not more than three!) positive characteristics will yield the best result! Give it a try by following the above suggestion if you are Yang Wood day master and share with me your outcome in the comment section after a month of trying. I bet a month later you will thank today's you :)
This is the first of the 10 day master series and I will cover the remaining in the following posts. I will share my version of bazi application based on traditional bazi study.
